BLUE CORNER MARINE CONSERVATION

The Program

Co-Founder and Marine Biologist Andrew Taylor takes us on the Blue Corner Marine Conservation program journey so far.

From Coral Restoration and Reef-Health Monitoring, to getting up close and personal with our Manta Ray population, each module available is 6 days of diving, skills and fun.

Whether you want to take part in the three week Scientific Diver program, add-on to your Divemaster certification or perhaps break up your fun diving trip with a specific marine ecology training, we have options for everyone!

SCIENTIFIC DIVER | DIVEMASTER | CONSERVATIONISTS

Conservation Internship

Whether you’re part of the Scientific Diver program, completing your Divemaster or just interested in learning more about conservation, you can join for one or more of our week-long modules. These are in-depth training in conservation and marine ecology. Each Module is 6 days of diving, skills and fun!

Starts 1st Saturday of each month.

Each day includes specific task-orientated diving and lectures in topics from coral health, tropical reef fish identification, and manta ray conservation.

Starts 2nd Saturday of each month.

Learn about several survey techniques used to monitor coral reef health. Including Coral Watch & Reef Check scientific survey techniques. Certifications include Reef Check

6 DAYS | LEARN MORE

Starts 3rd Saturday of each month.

This is a unique hands-on workshop in which you take part in Blue Corner Marine Research's ongoing coral restoration project. During this week you will learn various techniques and be certified as a PADI Coral Restoration Diver.

6 DAYS | 12 DIVES | LEARN MORE

Starts 4th Saturday of each month.

Week-long conservation module focusing on Manta Rays, Sharks, Marine Turtles and other megafauna. Part of Blue Corner Marine Research’s conservation internship program on Nusa Lembongan

SCIENTIFIC DIVER + PADI DIVEMASTER

Scientific Divemaster

This is our most popular and fun internship which includes both conservation training and the PADI Divemaster course. Students who are already Rescue Diver certified can enroll in this package program, or come a bit early and complete the prerequisites at Blue Corner Dive before starting.

The PADI Divemaster course is 4-weeks, then you can add 1 - 4 conservation weeks to make an extended internship. Choose one or all of the modules listed above that you are interested. They can be done either before or after the core Divemaster weeks.

Restoration ecology

Coral Restoration

Offered at both our Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Penida dive centres! This is everyone’s favorite activity - restoring coral reefs!

This Introduction to coral restoration allows divers to join our marine biologists and take part in our active restoration site by transplanting corals on our coral frames. The program includes lectures on marine habitat restoration as well as various techniques in use for coral restoration.


Reef Check foundation

Reef Check EcoDiver 

The world recognized ReefCheck EcoDiver certificate is a comprehensive training course in survey methods for monitoring coral reef health. The course has theory, practical and diving based components including Reef Check methods, fish identification, coral substrates and survey methods.

We offer this course either on-demand or monthly along side our Reef Health Monitoring Week

Manta Awareness

Learn about the different manta ray species, their monitoring, and conservation around the Nusa Penida Marine Park.  Better understand the threats and opportunites for these beautiful animals.

Restoration eLearning

Start learning about coral reef restoration today with our online course! After completing this intensive scientific-based course, if you enjoyed the course, then you can then also sign up for our week-long Coral Restoration Workshop - which is a recognized professional training program from the Society for Ecological Restoration.
